Visit the Maritime Simulation Institute in nearby Middletown where you will have the opportunity to observe or actually pilot various simulated ownships and tugs from the wheelhouse mock-up aboard one of our four marine simulators (including a full-mission ship’s bridge and a purpose built Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) Tractor Tug wheelhouse).
The simulations will take place in one or more of our U.S. and foreign port visual geographic database areas (including Narragansett Bay, of course). Following the facilities tour and simulations, the Maritime Simulation Institute will offer a presentation focused on the various ways they make use of marine simulation to include: mariner and pilot training, evaluation and assessment; port project feasibility studies; validation of normal, unusual and emergency vessel operating procedures; marine terminal design evaluation; human factors studies; and casualty investigation and reconstruction.
Bus to the Maritime Simulation Institute will depart from the main entrance at 1245. Participation is limited to 30 people. Please contact Jennifer@tallshipsamerica.org to participate
