Focus Session: Ingredients for a Successful Tall Ships® Event

Summary:

 An outline for successful planning, staffing, managing, marketing and funding of a successful Tall Ships® event.  Information will include planning for domestic, privately- owned vessels and government owned vessels.  Good refresher for those in the business or just starting out.  This is also a partial encore presentation made by Karen Scherberger of Norfolk Festevents in Halifax in 2008.

 Biography of Speaker: Patricia Lock

 Patti has worked the marketing side of  special events for over 30 years, and has focused on  tall ships and maritime festivals for the last ten years. She has worked extensively with Niagara, Pride of Baltimore II, S/V Denis Sullivan and the HMS Bounty for port appearances in the Great Lakes, developing ports and their festivals along the way.  She has extensive maritime festival experience:  Huntington Cleveland Harborfest, 2001, 2003 and 2003, BayLake Bank Tall Ships® Green Bay 2003 and 2006, TALL SHIPS®CHICAGO 1998, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2006, Sail San Francisco 2002 and is now working on the return of the tall ships to the Great Lakes for the Great Lakes United TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE® 2010.
