Tall Ships Races 2015 – Host Port Feedback (PPT)

Host port representatives from The Tall Ships Races 2015 will give insights on their preparation and delivery of the event in their city. These first-hand insights will include areas of their projects that were successful and also the more challenging areas where lessons were learned. This session offers a valuable source of advice and guidance for contracted and potential host ports.

Kevin Grant is a Senior Project Manager for Belfast 2015, a position he also had in 2009 when Belfast hosted the Trans-Atlantic Challenge Race. As well as overall co-ordination of the project and the various management structures, he has responsibilities for budgeting, risk management, site planning, crew and volunteer management and logistics. Kevin has worked in Event Management for Belfast City Council for 15 years.
Gerry Copeland
Gerry Copeland

Gerry Copeland has worked for Belfast City Council for nearly two decades. In this time he has help deliver many of the city’s iconic events through its annual festival programme. Along with his colleagues in Belfast Council’s City Events Unit and Belfast Harbour he assisted in bringing over 500,000 people to The Tall Ships Races 2015 – an event which generated £17 million for the city’s economy and £5 million in publicity value.

Albert Gjørtz was the Project Manager for The Tall Ships Races 2015 in the Norwegian city of Aalesund. His involvement fulfilled a personal ambition to be involved in The Tall Ships Races and he led the team that delivered all aspects of the event.
